How Much Do Solar Panels Cost in the Philippines?
Everybody asks this first, and nobody likes the real answer: it depends. Solar gets priced like a renovation, not like a refrigerator. Two houses on the same street can get quotes ₱100,000 apart for reasons that have nothing to do with the panels on the roof.
So instead of giving you a number that won't match your house, here's what actually sets the price, and how to read a quote properly.
The ballpark, with caveats
Price guides published through 2026 put a fully installed home system somewhere between ₱150,000 and ₱650,000. That range is almost uselessly wide, which is the point. The more useful figure is cost per watt, and installed residential solar has been running roughly ₱55 to ₱75 per watt. Two years ago it was closer to ₱80–90, so equipment prices have genuinely come down.

What actually moves the price
Size, which follows your bill and not your roof
This is the biggest single factor. A house using 300 kWh a month needs a completely different system from one running three aircon units through the afternoon. Bigger systems cost more overall but less per watt, because the inverter, the permits and the crew don't double when the array does.
Battery, or no battery
Here's the real fork in the road. Grid-tied with no battery is the cheapest way to cut a bill. Add a LiFePO4 bank so you keep power through a brownout and you're buying storage, a hybrid inverter and extra switchgear. It adds up quickly.
What your roof is made of
Standing-seam metal is fast and we like it. Clay tile is slow. Old asbestos sheeting sometimes can't be walked on safely at all. Steep pitches and third-storey roofs mean more time, more mounting hardware, more safety gear. Ground-mounted arrays skip the roof entirely but need a frame and footings.
Which panels and which inverter
There's a real gap between budget panels and Tier-1 modules, and a bigger one between a basic string inverter and a hybrid with proper monitoring. Cheaper isn't automatically wrong. It should just be a choice you made rather than one made quietly on your behalf.
The state of your electrical
Older houses sometimes need panel-board work, new breakers or proper earthing before anything gets connected. Nobody can predict this reliably until they've opened the box and looked.
Where you are
Labour outside Metro Manila tends to be a little cheaper, though a genuinely remote site gives some of that back in transport and accommodation for the crew.
Comparing two quotes without a headache
Quotes are hard to compare because everyone bundles differently. Three habits fix most of it.
- Divide by watts. ₱300,000 for 5kW is ₱60/W. ₱260,000 for 4kW is ₱65/W. The cheaper-looking quote is the more expensive one.
- Ask what's excluded. Permits, net metering coordination, the meter fee, scaffolding, panel-board upgrades, long cable runs. All of these can be left out quietly and invoiced later.
- Demand the component list. Panel brand and wattage, inverter brand and model, battery chemistry and capacity. "Solar system, ₱280,000" isn't a quotation. It's a number.
What shouldn't cost you anything
Sizing and quotation should be free, and so should an honest answer about whether solar is worth it for you. If your consumption is low and your roof faces the wrong way, the right thing for an installer to say is that the payback is poor. We'd rather tell you that than sell you a system you'll resent in three years.
